I agree playing guitar is recognising and utilising patterns and this is one of them. The three major and three minor triad shapes on EBG strings and BGD strings are pretty necessary and how they join in a chord progression. Another useful one is that you only need to remember a single shape for playing open major triad root on A string skipping G string or root on D string skipping B string. Also similarly a single shape for open minor triad. And then in line with this 3-2 for pentatonic there is the 5-4 repeating pattern to play full major scale from low E string to top E covering 3 octaves. And.,,,

The D shape is sooo tricky to do, at least for me. My fingers just cannot make it, even with practice. G shape (the other complex one) is so easy compared to D!

mitch chakour taught me this 30 plus years ago. he calls it the 1-2, 1-2-3. it also works as you go up each individual string. 1-2, skip 2 frets, 1-2-3, skip 2 frets, 1-2

I’m self taught so I can play the 3 level system and 1-3 pentatonic positions with absolute ease but I truly have no idea about those basic chords you played at the beginning 😂😂

You are playing lower pitched octaves in the harmonics moving higher up the neck with your stumming hand. I think that's why it's sounds softer. Not you specifically, just anyone playing that.
